Front Range Arborists, a division of Timberline Landscaping, is an award-winning full-service tree care company serving Colorado Springs and the surrounding areas for more than 30 years. We offer a full range of services from tree pruning, removals, stump grinding, shrub trimming and tree spray applications.

The Arbor Care Crew Leader is responsible for supervising assigned crew members in the field, ensuring tree work is performed with safety and quality as top priorities. The Crew Leader collaborates directly with the Arbor Care Manager, Production Supervisor, and Arbor Care Administrative Assistant to ensure crew performance and overall department success.

Duties & responsibilities

  • Support the management various projects including fire mitigation tree trimming and removal, shrub pruning and removal, plant healthcare etc.
  • Conduct job walkthroughs with customers and crew members upon completion of work, when feasible
  • Review and understand scope of work with Superintendent, and install to all necessary specifications
  • Participate in pre-job planning with Superintendent to help ensure that projects can proceed smoothly and efficiently
  • Manage team time keeping of self and landscape tech (typically a crew of 2-4)
  • Supervise crew members to ensure the completion of the daily work plan, quality standards are met, and that production is maximized
  • Understand the need for and exhibit the ability to adapt to meet critical deadlines
  • Ensure a safe environment for employees, customers, and the public while ensuring the work is done efficiently
  • Utilize analytical thinking and critical thinking to address work-related issues and problems
  • Train and coach crew members on project tasks or skill development when necessary
  • Notify the Production Supervisor of any job inefficiencies and document appropriately for continuous improvement
  • Pay attention to detail, ensuring quality and thoroughness in completing work tasks and maintain a clean and presentable work site upon daily completion
  • Address crew member personnel issues and discuss protocols in meetings with the Production Supervisor
  • All team members help and support other departments when necessary, including snow removal and Christmas decor
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • 2+ years’ experience in the industry and leading a crew
  • Must be punctual, responsible and have a positive, can-do attitude
  • Demonstrate dependability and efficient work practices
  • Supervise site safety and quality, ensuring adherence to job ANSI 300 standards and all safety procedures for the well-being of the crew and the public
  • Excellent with computer software, especially Microsoft Office and job management software. Ability to learn new software quickly
  • Leadership, interpersonal, and multi-tasking skills (including the handling of multiple priorities and deadlines)
  • Effective organizational skills that include the ability to self-manage work and manage the work of others
  • Must be highly adaptable to the kinds of change that come along with working in an entrepreneurial environment
  • Self-starting initiative to pursue improvements and projects without substantial supervision
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Colorado driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Must have a smartphone with the ability to download and use mobile apps
  • Professional demeanor and appearance

DESIRED

  • Landscape Industry Certified in Softscape (commercial) or Hardscape (residential) a plus
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • ISA and/or CDA QS certifications or similar
  • Forestry degree or similar
  • CDA QS certifications

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Perform tree trim production by climbing trees, operating bucket trucks, and utilizing other equipment while working safely and efficiently
  • The position involves working at heights and frequently carrying loads of up to 75 pounds over long distances
  • Use proper body mechanics to climb ropes and trees
  • Utilize power equipment that can be sharp and/or noisy
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE)
